About Dr. Russ Van Hemert
After participating in high school and college athletics, the years of sports took a toll on my body. One summer, while playing softball, I injured my back. I took the ‘traditional’ route of seeing my medical doctor and was told to take muscle relaxants and pain pills for a week. After no relief, I was told to continue the regimen for another week. I thought that there must be a better way; a way I could take care of my problem, not just the symptoms of my problem. I then went to a Doctor of Chiropractic and that night I was free from pain and ready to play more softball! It was then that I decided to become a chiropractor and focused later on in my career on sports injuries.
Most chiropractors will tell you that YOU don’t choose chiropractic, but IT chooses you. Chiropractic chose me and I feel as though I am fulfilling my calling. I can truly say that it is a real joy for me to go to work every day where I can help people achieve their optimum state of health.
I attended Central College in Pella, Iowa for my undergraduate studies and then graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. I married my best friend, Caryn, for 46 years. We have been blessed with 3 children and 7 wonderful grandchildren. We are loving this phase of life! I am frequently reminded of the importance of assisting these precious little ones to maintain their optimum state of health from the very start.
I have been in practice for over 40 years and strive to be the BEST at what I do and I care about every patient I treat. Our office is committed to excellence, but we have fun while we care for you. Our office has a relaxing atmosphere, and we provide honest, logical, and patient-oriented care for all members of the family.
